Server Version#: 4.43.1
I installed the Plex Media Server on my main PC, and I want to share my libraries on that PC with other PCs on my local network. I followed all of the instructions on this help page https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-files/homegroup-removed-how-to-get-network-sharing-work/01277332-2916-4a68-853a-116696b20743
including resetting network settings on all computers. This fixed sharing between my other computers, and they all see each other under the Network tab in File Explorer. However, my PC with Plex Media Server installed on it still only shows up as a “Media Device” in the Network tab in File Explorer. It shows up actually as two different Media Devices, once as the computer name, and once as the Plex Media Server. Clicking these just launches Windows Media Player and doesn’t allow me to access, copy, or use the files in any way.
Typing //localhost in the main PC’s File Explorer brings up the files I’m sharing, and checking the Security tab shows that it has given permission to read, write, list, and execute files to “Everyone” as I had set up earlier.
Can anyone tell me how to get my main PC to show up as a “computer” in the Network tab on other PCs as it is supposed to? I’ve been beating my head on this for hours with no luck.
