I’ve bought new WD My Cloud Home recently and it comes with Plex Media Server but unfortunately, I’m unable to access it from outside my home network. I’ve enabled remote access but it is showing me that I have a double-Nat scenario and my ISP support staff is telling me to buy a public IP to access it from any outside network but I’m confused as to why I would need to buy that when I can access my WD My Cloud Home from any network, it’s just the Plex Media Server that is inaccessible. If anyone can help me solve this issue, it would be very much appreciated as otherwise, it would be a waste of money to have bought this.
Do you have a set-up that has a cable modem/router and also a wireless router? If so, try doing two things:
- Set-up a port forward on your cable modem that forwards to the IP address of your wireless router
- On your wireless router, set-up a port forward that points to the IP address of your WD My Home device.
I did this, and it worked.
No. I have two different internet connection on two different device. I have my plex media server running on wd my cloud home which is connect to internet connection 1 and my laptop is connected to internet connection 2. The problem is I cant connect to the plex through this setup, I tried swapping the connection but the result is always the same.
