I just bought a WD my cloud home and plex media server is installed and enabled on the device. It is wired to my wifi router (D-Link DIR-816) which is using ISP-1 to access the internet. Now my laptop is accessing the internet through a different wired connection ISP-2 without any router. So please help me set up the whole thing so that I can use plex from anywhere, on any connection.
well… not much rocket science to it.
- enable remote access on your Plex Media Server (`Settings > Server > Remote Access´)
- check if you can access it from outside your network
- if it doesn’t work, check if you need to enable UPNP on your router (from their homepage, it seems UPNP is enabled by default… maybe it’s been deactivated)
- if you cannot get it to work, look into creating a dedicated port forward (could be the regular Plex Port 32400 or any other port you like – e.g. if you like 32399 or 32404 better)

Your laptop will only be able to access Plex through the internet.
