how do i setup plex remote access when I am using two different internet connections?

I just bought a WD my cloud home and plex media server is installed and enabled on the device. It is wired to my wifi router (D-Link DIR-816) which is using ISP-1 to access the internet. Now my laptop is accessing the internet through a different wired connection ISP-2 without any router. So please help me set up the whole thing so that I can use plex from anywhere, on any connection.

well… not much rocket science to it.

  1. enable remote access on your Plex Media Server (`Settings > Server > Remote Access´)
  2. check if you can access it from outside your network
  3. if it doesn’t work, check if you need to enable UPNP on your router (from their homepage, it seems UPNP is enabled by default… maybe it’s been deactivated)
  4. if you cannot get it to work, look into creating a dedicated port forward (could be the regular Plex Port 32400 or any other port you like – e.g. if you like 32399 or 32404 better)

Your laptop will only be able to access Plex through the internet.
