you might want to access your Plex Media Server through its local IP address – not through a 3rd party remote access service (I suppose that’s what Western Digital is handling through wdckeystone.com)
http://[WD MyCloud Home IP address]:32400/web should do the job
I suppose you know the local IP address of your WD MyCloud Home NAS?
If you don’t… you should be able to determine it using your router (e.g. using the list of connected devices)
Thanks for the reply. Im not really that tech savvy. I checked the ip address of the my cloud and it was 192.168.1.37 so I typed http://192.168.1.37:32400/ and got a message “hmm … cant reach this page”
Plex Media Server is running and you’re on the same subnet?
Some routers will create different subnets for wired vs. wireless or guest vs. regular networks.
three more silly questions:
have you checked in the MyCloud admin app if the Plex Media Server app is running?
do you get the same result using https vs. http?
do you get the same result using a different browser?
If on windows, press [windows button] + r together, then type cmd, press return.
In the command prompt, type ping 192.168.1.37
Does it get a response that shows a ttl value?
Tom,
To be honest not sure what you mean however I tried my old windows 10 laptop, signed into wd my cloud and the plex media server configured ok however when i try it from windows 11 laptop its saying not available outside your network.
I think you found your problem. You have a networking issue.
I see the IP address on the box you’re on is 192.168. 1.33. What is the subnet mask of the box you are pinging from? Get that information by running ‘ipconfig /all’ in the command prompt. I’m assuming its 255.255.255.0.
How are your server and the computer you are on connected, copper, wifi? Do they go through switch or router, both?
Did the ipconfig and subnet mask is indeed 255.255.255.0.
The laptop connection is via wifi to my router and the WD MyCloud is connected to router via Tp Link extender. Router is downstairs and MyCloud upstairs.
First, try to ping the gateway from your laptop, 192.168.1.1. Then, if you could, change your laptop wireless connection to the same TP Link extender your WD MyCloud is on. Once you do that, then see if you can ping the gateway and server Try that page again if the ping to the server is successful.
If it works, then you have a problem either within your range extender or your router. Is it possible that there is a setting in your router that prevents hosts from communicating with each other on the network and only allows them a connection out to the internet, like if on a guest network? See if you can see something in the settings that might be blocking network comms from devices in the router config.
