1.13.9.5439 is Plex Pass only atm. The “public” repo only contains public releases
The repos are deliberately not browseable because the public repo links only to public release.
This is the policy set by management.
The “Warning:” is a warning. Just because nobody is used to seeing warnings means it’s an error.
I will repeat again here, as I’ve said above,
When the new packaging is out of beta, the new repositories will go live as well. This will remove the annoying “Warning” message (Apt now looks for “Codename” which wasn’t enforced before) will be silenced.
Thank you!
Registered here just to be able to type that.
Without guys like you, Windows would rule the world and the world we libe in today would die
Greetings from Sweden
Thank you guys for a great product and for explaining the warnings and errors. I was a bit worried until I saw your responses.
I wish people could read the whole thread before posting.
I think that this problem has re-manifested – I’m assuming that the problem was a disconnect between the webpage guidance and the actual repository structure – if that’s incorrect please tell me. I followed the guidance under: Enable repository updating for supported Linux server distributions by entering
echo deb https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb public main | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/plexmediaserver.list
and then importing the gpg key (although the curl … command in the above article does not work. Instead see my post “Unable to get GPG key via curl” – the command that worked was
apt-key adv --fetch-keys https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-key/PlexSign.key
resulted in the “Conflicting Distribution” error. Trying it with either variation of …/repo/deb public main (or) deb public InRelease threw the same error.
Oh yes, Lubuntu 18.04 (worked great in 16.04)
Thanks in advance for your help.
Bill
Please look at it again. It is a Warning, not an Error.
ok so I’ve got the exact same issues,
plex@server:~$ cat /etc/*releas

so French language aside, it tells me that 1.14.1.5488-cc260c476 is the last version … but I can easily get plexmediaserver_1.15.2.793-782228f99_amd64.deb on Plex website …
help ?
I’ll go with a dpkg -i on this package (1.15.2) if nothing can be done, but I’ll prefer to use apt-get
I can say that I am having the exact same issue… the only difference being U.S. english.
The new repositories are not live yet. This warning will continue until they are.
First of all thank you for all your work ChuckPA and the continuous communication.
Do you have an eta? Or what thread or blog can I keep an eye on to know when the new repos are live?
There is no single thread. I will try to post in the seemingly countless list of threads I’ve amassed when they are ready. I may miss a few so apologize in advance if I do.
Hey man - thanks for all of your work!
So that I am not confused, it sounds like you are saying (over and over again
) that the warning doesnt matter and it will still download without a problem and install, HOWEVER, the reason is isnt as of this exact moment to public plex users (without pass) is that the repos arent live…and SO when we open the media PLAYER we see the new server message but wont be able to receive it until the new repos are up, and then normal apt update or apt-get update will work fine (with warning)…am I understanding this all correctly? Sorry…like o so many others, also a noob
Adam,
You are 100% correct. It is a WARNING (which is why it prints W and proclaims itself a warning
) It’s harmless.
Originally Debian did not always check for the “CodeName” field. Now they do and warn if not there or doesn’t match.
Plex version 1.14.1.5488 its available by repo? I’ve this warning and repo doesnt updating Plex
It is a WARNING.
please search for my posts? I’ve repeated myself countless times.
For me the warning is not the issue. It has updated and installed the updates fine all along, but the last two public releases have not shown up in apt. I have had to install the deb package directly.
Read the announcements! The update is available by download only, not via auto update.
As I post in every thread which asks:
The repositories are down right now. We are finalizing the new repos and testing.
Plex/Web and the Repo will not be in sync.
Please download manually.
I did read the announcement. The latest release post says nothing about auto update not being available. But after posting I did find another post that indicates the new build process is still not ready.
