Connection Across SubNets

I’ve got a Plex Server running on a Mac and it’s IP address is 192.168.77.10 - on a different subnet, I’ve got a Roku connected to a “dumb TV”, with an IP address of 192.168.75.121. There is a route between the networks (I can ping the Roku IP from my Mac, and the Mac from other devices on the .75 subnet. I’ve looked, but cannot find the “magic settings” that will allow the Roku to talk to the MAC locally, as opposed to a relay. Relay works for a while; but when I try to stream a playlist, after about 10 tracks, it “hangs”; and I’d also rather not run that much traffic through my ISP.

I tried hard coding the server address in the Roku “Manual Connections”, and putting various combinations in the “Lan” Advanced Settings on the server; but just can’t seem to get it to work.

Help? And thanks in advance!

What are your trying to archive?

You do have two subnets with a route on bother routers that allow to traffic flow in both directions.

I guess what you want to do is add both subnet’s in your lan setting: 192.168.77.0/255.255.255.0,192.168.75.0/255.255.255.0.

Regardless, wheather you manualy add the server or let plex do its magic, you should be able to access the server localy.
During login, the server publishes the ip’s of all interfaces and your WAN-IP to plex.tv. Your Roku should get the whole list and try to find the best connection to the server.

Though, I have no Roku myself. I just operated a simililar setup with Samsung-TVs.

Thanks! I found the “magic” inside Roku and was able to point it at the other subnet; so - good to go!
