+1 Just came across this problem myself. 4K DV MP4 file, direct playing both audio and video on local network (5G Wi-Fi) to a device only three meters from the router and it would buffer. Remuxing to MKV fixed the problem. Please fix this Plex team.
The problem still continues, I have wired gigabit connection to my Shield Pro , just 8gb MP4 DV file (which only requires 18mbps as Plex App says) but it buffers in every 3 seconds, replaced with mkv and problem solved. And it s a shame that plex team didn’t solve it since 2021.
Bumping this. Most DV mp4 files play just fine, but I have one DV mp4 file that’s 17Mbps that exhibits this behavior through Plex on Android on a TCL R646. I can play this file just fine on a Roku Ultra 4800X. The bandwidth used spikes up around 120Mbps and hovers around there indefinitely while the video buffers every few seconds.
This continues to be an issue; Plex team can you chime in on this? Seems like a long-standing issue with lots of radio silence….
