Update: So far the iowait is much lower than it was. Looks to be sticking around 10% now ill keep an eye on things but that might have solved my problem. Now if I can just figure out the missing HDD space.

How do you feel about –

  1. Install dump package
  2. Make a filesystem dump of the root to an external file system
  3. SAVE the UUID of your current root partition
  4. Boot the USB drive again.
  5. Reformat the / partition, manually specifying the UUID (so everything aligns with your current config)
  6. RESTORE the backup image to the root.

There are some additional details I’ll give you if this seems like a task you’re up to

(I do it all the time when moving host configurations around but that’s just me)

Sorry for the delay, I had a tonsillectomy and have been recovering from that.

I would be good with doing this, my available space has somehow made its way down to 25GB
