Constant connection to unknown linode server: 50.116.44.223

Anyone know why PMS has two persistent connections open to this linode server that has no web response or identity?

netstat -ntupe | grep 50.116.44.223

tcp 0 0 10.0.2.10:44562 50.116.44.223:443 ESTABLISHED 0 2772927501 13419/Plex Media Se
tcp 0 0 10.0.2.10:33336 50.116.44.223:443 ESTABLISHED 0 982773537 12653/Plex EAE Serv

The concern is that PMS runs as root on the readynas (and presumably other NAS) - and this persistent connection rather seems like a bit of a backdoor, as I cannot understand why PMS would need such connections always open.

It is a Plex host. Possibly used for remote access, Plex Relay, user authentication, etc where Plex Media Server checks in with plex.tv (or plex.bz) on a regular basis. You might dig through the log files to see if they have more details. Look in Plex Media Server.log and .1.log to .5.log.
