As the title describes. Works fine on all other devices, but this started about a week ago on my Vizio TV. The picture will pixelate and jitter the entire time I’m playing anything in 1080p. If I downgrade to 720p it goes away. The TV recently had an update so I’m thinking it has something to do with that.
I am seeing the same. I did notice a display update recently as well so that could be it. It appears to have only affected the Plex app and Casting from Plex to the TV. Netflix and Amazon Video still work as expected.
Same here, started about 2 weeks ago, blocky pixelated artifacts on Plex Vizio app, on a p55f1, videos are fine on other devices, hopefully an update fixes it.
I have a Vizio 70" TV and have the same issue here. It is definitely a Vizio/Plex issue because plex works great on every other device. It just started since the recent Vizio TV update. I just contacted Vizio about it and the tech couldn’t solve the issue, she recommended I contact Plex…go figure.
PLEX PLEASE FIX THE VIZIO TV APP SO I DON’T HAVE GO BUY A ROKU TO WATCH THE APP ON THIS TV. THAT WOULD NOT MAKE ME HAPPY. THANKS
Figured I would comment as well. I’m in the same Vizio boat of pain. Started noticing this a few weeks ago. Real bummer as its my main display TV and plex is essentially unusable.
Edit: Turns out it must have been direct play. As soon as I turned that off and made my media pc do the transcoding, all was well! (As Moore said!)
I would imagine it’s up to the app developers to stay current with the platform, not the other way around. Meaning Plex should be fixing this. But still no response from them.
I have enabled logging on my plex app within the vizio settings. I can provide to support if needed. It would be nice to at least have an official recognition/acknowledgement from Plex
Thanks
Thanks, I checked my Plex app on my Vizio remote, but it doesn’t have an option for turning Direct Play on/off… The closest I could find was under Settings/Advanced/Player… A checkbox for “Use Android media player”… It says it might improve playback for a limited set of devices, but it looks like my Vizio TV is not one of them, because it didn’t improve the pixelation at all.
UPDATE… well I took advise from on this post and I went into my Plex settings on the Vizio TV and unchecked “allow direct stream “ and “ allow direct play”
That worked unfortunately and everything is working fine again. I say “unfortunately “ though bc I worked hard to download all my content with the exact video and audio files that would direct play to my TV and not transcode. And now with those options unchecked, the video is transcoding… but it’s better than nothing and at least it’s working again.
This tip seems to drastically improve the video quality, but I still notice the occasional pixelization. It is also very annoying to have to transcode, using up loads more CPU cycles than I originally planned for. Vizio support is no help…
Vizio E70-e3 I have the same problem. I have over 1000 very hi quality movies that I dont want to “transcode”. I want the original quality period. It worked before pretty well. Since the last Vizio update it sucks. Every movie I watch now is pixelating. I wonder if theres a way to roll back the tv and remove the last update.
Where else can we share this problem that might get someone to take notice and possibly fix it. Apparently the people from plex are on vacation, I never see replies from them. This problem did start when my TV did the last update from Vizio, although I think it may be a problem with Plex because everything else on the tv works fine. Not really sure how to get this complaint to the right people. Tech support is just a waste of time. If we cant get it to the right people or department, it will probably never be fixed. They also need to have enough complaints before they will actually try to fix it. I would think that even if its not a “Plex” problem, the people from plex would help us get through to Vizio to correct the problem, most of us are paying customers that provide Plex with a monthly income. Vizio doesnt care because they already got the money they wanted for their junk. Anyone have ideas on how to escalate this or ideas on how to get it to the right people?
