Vizio M65-C1 - Plex App Blank/Black Screen

Server Version#: Synology V1.18.8.2527
Player Version#: Vizio V3.13.13
TV Model#: Vizio M65-C1

I am no longer able to open the Plex app on my Vizio TV. When attempting to open the App, all that happens is that I get a blank/black screen that I cannot interact with. I have tried restarting cold restarting my TV to resolve the issue and it still won’t work.

Update 1: I tried deauthorizing the TV and then reauthorizing it. I was able to load the Plex app, but right after authorizing Plex, the screen goes back to the same black screen problem.

Update 2: The problem appears to be with Plex Media Server V1.18.8.2527. It is the only thing that changed recently. If I stop my server, I get a failure to connect to the server message on my TV. If the server is online, the screen goes black. Is there a way to download an older version of the Synology x64 Plex Media Server application? I cannot find downloads of older versions for Synology servers.

I have the EXACT same problem. Hisense TV, 1.18.8.2527

The Plex app on Vizio is no longer supported so it was just a matter of time when a PMS update was likely to break it.

I don’t know off hand, you could ask in the Server/NAS section of the forums and tag your post with synology.

Go to C:\Users<your user name>\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Updates
folder
you can find the previous versions there to install until the fix is created

There is no such folder for PMS on Synolgoy.

you can search for an “updates” folder under “plex media server” somewhere on the storage, maybe it’s somewhere else

Fairly certain that’s not how it works on Synology.

I WinSCP’ed into my Synology NAS. You are correct, there is no “updates” folder.

Is your TV still considered supported? (Unlike mine?)

No.

i tried mutiple versions its likely the app on the tvs not server.

Seems unlikely as the app isn’t being updated… perhaps it’s an issue with how apps are now launched on those TVs and/or an update from the TV manufacturer.

agreed…i have tried a few as well. any way to downgrade apps on the tv?

I’m having the same problem accessing Plex from my Hisense TV. Last night, Plex was fine. Today, it just drops to a black screen after the Plex logo. I feel pretty stupid getting a lifetime Plex Pass now.

What seems to have changed is the way Plex service is authenticating the TV app. PMS shows additional/new auth for iOS web app that TV app can’t/doesn’t use.

Re roll to last version doesn’t work

They screwed up something on their end. Nothing we can do can change it unless they fix it

FWIW I raised this internally and folks are looking into this, its true at least some of the devices mentioned here are not supported, but at first glance there’s no apparent change that would break this, much less intentionally.

Does it still fail if you go back to an older PMS version?
