Constant pixelation and screen jitter when streaming 1080p on my Vizio E65-F0

It used to be such a great app. Played everything in my library flawlessly, it was genuinely impressive. Now I’m more surprised if it plays anything without horrendous artifacting every minute or so.

I turned off the direct play like a few people suggested and it seems to have gotten much better but still happens occasionally.

I, too, have been experiencing pixelation, jittering, and stuttering as many others. TV model is P65-C1. I will try disabling the direct play/stream in the Plex app on the TV to force transcoding.

Disabling Direct play for video and audio only reduces the frequency in which the issue happens. The issue is still prevalent nonetheless. The silence is really deafening on this from both Plex and Vizio. Does neither company want to take responsibility for this? Will it just remain broken forever? I’m seriously considering returning my new Vizio Smart TV over this issue since Plex availability was a main factor for me buying it in the first place.

It’s been made clear by this post taking off and not a word from Plex that they don’t care. Insanely frustrating

Does anyone know how to officially get the attention of staff? Maybe there is a lesser known avenue to submit a ticket/complaint

I first noticed this right when it happened( Nov. 2018) and watched as it ballooned to what we have now regarding responses from frustrated individuals. Truth be told, this is NOT a Plex problem, but rather a Vizio Smartcast problem. Casting: VLC, Videostream for Chromecast, Emby etc. all exhibited the same pixelated mess.

I’m having the same problem on my P series TV. Plex developers do you care enough about your loyal customers to at least respond (with something more than “we are aware”? This is very disappointing.

This thread has been mostly helpful. I can not get rid of this problem when using the Plex app on an Android or iOS device. I can get it to happen much less following the instructions for disabling direct stream and direct play in the app on the Vizio TV. But it still happens.

So that means I am done with the built-in Chromecast on the Vizio. I’m also probably done with Plex, since they don’t appear to give a ■■■■.

Maybe it is a ploy by the MPAA to get us to stop torrenting.

Has anyone been able to resolve this issue with their Vizio TVs? My P75F1 does the same glitchy artifacts with direct stream content.

Would love to solve the issue…

The only way to stop it currently is to turn off direct play and direct stream in the video settings of the plex app on your TV

I did the whole disabling of direct streaming on my Vizio and it slightly helped. I wish there was a better solution, but that’s about all we have at the moment. These damn manufacturers and their taking MONTHS upon YEARS to release updates for things, and ultimately not fixing things that (admittedly) probably affect maybe 15% of their user base, is absolutely infuriating.

Recent update to my TV but unclear if plex version was also updated.

SmartCast TV device config version
3.1.190509.42689
Companion Library version number
1.1.2(1.0.190312.3242)

Plex for Vizio
3.13.13

Vizio SmartCast
6.0.18.1

I have since re-enabled “allow direct stream” but still have direct play turned off. I have not noticed the issues so far but only time will tell.

The reason I left direct play off is because with that turned on, I cannot resume playback from where I left off, it ALWAYS starts over from the beginning. I really enjoy being able to stop and resume(who doesn’t) so Here we go!

When it is time, I will spring for the Samsung model TVs as they seem to play better with plex.

I have NOT seen AnY Pixelization since my last post!
