Since one/two weeks the “Continue Watching” function does not work in any of my libraries.
I also tried to set the “Weeks to be considered for Continue Watching” setting to 99999 or higher, but it didn’t help.
The second attempt was to manually mark an episode as watched, which should result in the next episode being available under “Continue Watching”… but that didn’t help either…
The next step would be to downgrade to the previous version…
I haven’t found anyone on this forum (yet) who has a similar problem.
I appreciate any assistance
Server version 1.27.0.5849
EDIT:
Also not working with the version: 1.27.0.5873
Also not working with the version: 1.27.0.5878
In my case, the files have the correct data and no incomplete metadata. As stated above, in my case, PMS 1.26.2.5797 works perfectly. If I upgrade to a newer version, the continue watching section stops working. The only shows that keep appearing are those for which the next episode is the first of a new season (i.e. S02E01 or S03E01). All the other ones simply vanish.

Well if you decide to upgrade again and it is not working likely need to see the plex media info xml for episode 1 an 2 of the same show. and the sever logs. After you update I suggest leaving the server alone for at least 30 minutes. Updates often have database cleanups that need to run and best that is left alone while doing it.
The server has an option to always add the first episode of a new season to CW regardless of the Weeks to Consider for CW so that may explain why those season premiers are showing up.
also make sure the libraries do not have “exclude from home screen” enabled
I’ve not heard of this before so it may take me a bit to figure out what may be happening.
Currently I could fix my problem after resetting the „recommendation“ setting for all libraries.
After the reset you have to rescan all libraries again and wait until the „continue watching“ is rebuild.
I‘m trying to change the „recommendation“ back to prevent duplicate entries of „last added“…
This happes only if you have duplicates shows per library…
I have many duplicates shows in library as I seperate e.g. „latests“ shows and „all“ shows.
I hope you don’t mind me asking, but do you do that by going to Settings>Manage>Libraries>Manage Recommendations>Reset Customization?
And after that is done, click on the “Scan Library Files” button?
Thanks
I have two servers. One always has the latest Plex Pass version installed. The other one always has the latest full functioning version (which in my case is PMS 1.26.2.5797). The server with the latest Plex Pass version is mainly left alone, so the 30 minutes after upgrade are a given and the “Continue Watching” section is nevertheless empty (except for the shows with a new season starting).
This bug will of course prevent me from keeping my stable server upgraded which is very undesirable. Is there anything I can do from my side to help Plex address the bug? It surely was caused by something implemented from versions 1.26… to 1.27…, right?
Unfortunately, performing those two steps did not work for me… if you happen to remember something else that you may have done, please let me know. Thanks!
I did all these to no avail. I don’t know whether the logs can be helpful in this case and, to be frank, I wouldn’t even know where to look…
As I have a test server with little content, it is easy for me to perform any steps or tests and I’m willing to do so.
I’m also surprised that only two people got this issue and that, apparently, only I am unable to fix it. This is particularly strange as I have the same problem in both my servers, which are in different machines, different locations, different versions of Linux and different install mechanisms.
