Continue Watching on Home not updating dynamically

Hi,

I’ve noticed lately that Continue Watching doesn’t dynamically update when a new file is added, like Recently Added does.

I’m pretty sure it used to update on the fly in the past when it detects a new file, but now I have to refresh the webpage (I’m using Plex on WEB in Chrome).

If I’m watching the Home page I see the new file appear in Recently Added, and I see it update the info on it etc. But it doesn’t appear in the Continue Watching until I reload the page.

This is not to be confused with the other topic where files/shows/episodes doesn’t get added at all to Continue Watching.

Are you using app.plex.tv or the local one?

Can you provide the steps you’re taking to observe this? Are you watching something to push it into CW?

No, I have previously watched shows that have a new episode added to the library.
When it’s added to the library I can see it show up in the row below Continue Watching, in my case that row is Recently Added.
It shows up to the most left in that row, pushing everything older to the right, as it should.

I’m fairly certain that before, it used to show up to the most right in Continue Watching, without having to reload the interface.
This is what I’m thinking is the issue, the Continue Watching row isn’t updated visually when a new item is added to it, but after refreshing the page it shows up as it should in Continue Watching row as well.

It’s not a huge deal, just something I observed that feels a bit off, from what I believe was the previous behaviour.

I hope this makes sense.

Yeah that makes sense, thanks for the details. @Marabon are you seeing this on any other client?

I’m only using Web, except for TV (android) very rarely.
I would assume they work a bit differently than Web.

Could this have been affected by your settings in “Weeks to consider for Continue Watching” under Library?

@robin58: No, because they are actually being added to the Continue Watching, just not visually updating in the interface without a reload.

I’ve just noticed that some shows are added visually without refreshing the page, but some are not.
I installed the Microsoft Store app as well, and it’s experiencing the same behavior.

For whatever reason, one of the shows added to the library 3 days ago just showed up in Continue Watching after refreshing the page, while the latest added file did not, but should have showed up.
