First of all I want to say I absolutely love Plex. I got it on two roku’s, and Apple TV, a PC, two iPads, and three iPhones. I really really think it is great.
Now my beef. You really really got to restore continuous play on the Roku and Apple TV platforms. It’s been broken for a while and I know you know about this problem because searching these forums I have found many references to it. And starting from the beginning of the season is not a solution. Continuos play should be absolutely number one on your list of bug fixes for next release.
Second, having support through the forums is just crappy. And disrespectful. I am paying monthly. At the very least you should give me a email address. Forum only tech support is lousy. There are a lot of smart people on these forums. But basically it seems like you are saying " we are going to dump this software update on you and if you need help maybe a random stranger who is most likely not even affiliated with Plex might stumble upon a solution." That is not tech support.
End of rant. But please fix the continuous play and provide something less insulting then the forum support… At least for your paying customers. Give us an email address.
Oh, and one more thing. Please get the playlists and collections system working in a way that a human can utilize it. I have never seen anything so user unfriendly.
Again I really do love Plex. But it seems like you are so darn focused on new features, you ignore all the glaring faults that still exist. I understand it can be boring to work on already established stuff. But if we customers are paying money for this, we deserve a product that is supported directly by people who actually work on the development of the product, bug fixes and stability and user-friendliness improvements should be 70% of every update and only after the bugs are fixed (as best they can be), and the platform stabilized… Only then do you start messing around with new features.
Take a page from Apple. Every other year they do their ‘S’ releases of iPhones. It is basically just a “perfected” version of the previous model. (Please note I used quotes on perfected) They have corrected some issues, they improve performance, they add a couple of safe fluff features to interest the easily bored, increase stability, and maybe add one underwhelming new feature. But the focus is on improvement of existing tech, increasing stability, increasing performance, reducing bugs, and all around making things more user friendly.
It is awesome to find a new feature and say “man this is awesome I can do this now.” But what sucks is when you have to say “awe crud I used to be able to do this” or say “huh, this should be here. It totally makes sense. This should have been obvious. At least it is obvious to everyone else that make similar software.”
Again I am a fan of Plex. And I like it 96.5%. But there are a few glaring problems. And now I had to address them in a public forum, and I look like a temperamental jerk because you won’t even provide us paying customers with a direct feedback link or direct email where we could express our concerns privately. I do understand the programming concepts of Plex, the open nature of the product. But whomever is making money from us (someone is making money because I pay them every month) should be making sure paying customers are provided with reliable support, the product should be as reliable and secure as possible before messing around with other stuff, and all around stop hiding from us customers behind a bogus forum support system.
Hi. Hope everyone is having a great summer.
Was just wondering if anyone from plex could provide a little info about whether continuous play will be returned to a proper format as addressed in my prior posts. It functioned properly in earlier versions. Just wondering if plex has any intention of restoring that feature ever in the future. Starting from the deck or the season is not acceptable. I love Plex and will never leave it. But I see no reason why I can’t start S02E09 and not have it advance to S02E10 and so forth. This should be incredibly easy as it functioned that way for a very long time and the code is obviously still there since there is On Deck and Seasonal continuous play already working. Right now I have to go 'No one touch anything! If you stop it I’ll have to start from the beginning of the season again!"
Continuous play does work, it is just implicit instead of explicit. Plus, only the Roku had the explicit CP option anyways. I may be remembering wrong but other clients never worked that way. In most new clients you can play from a certain episode and it will queue up the rest of the season, but you do need to play from the season page. Why is this not acceptable? How else would you get to the episode?

If this in regards to the Roku, then I’m happy to say that we just added Post Play to the latest Plex Pass version. You can now start a TV episode, season or show from anywhere and easily auto play the next episode. This also works for movie libraries if you play/shuffle all. “Auto Play” is configurable in the general settings on the Roku.
Hello, I know this is an old thread but I have a basic same complaint. When using the Roku 2 I have the Auto Play / Post Play option. The problem is I don’t want the player to stop playing at 2 hours simply because I don’t tell it to continue. How do I keep the player running through a whole TV series NONSTOP even once it passes the 2 hour mark? My wife likes the TV to play throughout the night to help her sleep but after two hours it stops.
UPDATE: If you are using the ROKU2 or higher device TURN OFF the post play auto play feature. When you start the first video in your line push the down button on your remote and click ok on the repeat icon (make sure there isn’t a 1 in the middle of is) until it is highlighted and boom you have nonstop playing after that episode in a season line. This may work with other players but I don’t use anything really other than my ROKUs.
