Post - Play Screen freezes after 2 hours!? not cool

For the record, I completely object to this feature. Maybe i’m old fashioned, but isn’t a playlist supposed to …play? That’s the point of a queue isn’t it? I have been trouble shooting why my Plex hangs at the post play screen on my Chromecast for weeks only to find that this behavior is normal!?? As a paying customer I’m super frustrated by this.

If I want to queue 10 movies and sit on my butt to watch every single one in order without lifting a thumb then that should be my choice and not Plex’s. How about people be responsible and not fall asleep with their queue running? Why do I have to suffer because there are a few people out there who catch zzz’s while watching their media? This just isn’t me. To be honest if my queue was still running when I woke up I would say cool. I can just go back to the last video I remember watching. Say you throw a party and you have Plex serving all your media in the background? Say you want to have a Star Wars or Star Trek marathon? Sorry, your complimentary 2 hours are up.

For the record I’ve got nothing against the people who want this feature. If there are people out there who want this then let them have it, but also allow us the ability to turn this off in the menu as well.

Truly disappointing. Is there any possible workaround to this? A hack or a script or something? I really just want true continuous uninterrupted playback of my media.

Thanks.

I have to agree with your comment above. This issue just recently began happening on my Roku. I intentionally turn Plex on so I CAN play 8 consecutive hours of TV while I Sleep. For example I put Psych Season 5 on expecting to wake up to it still playing…it plays 2 hours worth of shows then stops, like Netflix does. I hate that feature because the moment Plex stops playing, the silence wakes me up. Its a pain to wake up every 2 hours just to hit OK to continue playing. There should be an option to turn the 2 hour feature on and off.

For Roku there’s a workaround described here:

This concept that “Plex” should decide how you watch your media is heartbreaking. It’s also untenable. The hubris that exists within this shop continues to amaze. The viewer should be able to decide how much or how little they stream. If you want to add it as a feature than by all means - but giving the Plex Pass supporter no ability to manage this has forced me to Emby. Plex continues to fall from the fine product it once was.
