Continuous Play with Xbox Media Remote

I saw in the release notes for 1.1.7 that you can do continuous play by pressing the X button on the Xbox One controller. Is there a way to do this using the Xbox Media Remote? I ask because I purchased one a few weeks back in hopes that I could control Plex and my other streaming apps with a more tradition remote instead of having to use a controller all the time. It works well with everything including Plex, but I haven’t figured out how to trigger continuous play with it (assuming it’s even possible).

Pressing ‘Play’ on your remote should do the same as hitting ‘X’ on the controller when you’re over an album, artist, show or playlist. Let me know if not. Thanks!

Will test again, might not be tonight since I’ll be home late, but I believe I tried that over the weekend and when an episode ended it just popped me back out to where I had to manually select the next episode to get it to play. Quite frankly I’ve never actually used continuous play before so I’m not even exactly sure how the functionality should look.

Ah! Yes, we don’t have continuous play from an individual episode (yet). Without a post play countdown like the Chromecast or web apps, we think it may be too jarring.

If you start playback from a season, show or section, you’ll get continuous video playback.

Thanks for getting back to me!

Yeah just tested it out and it works like you said. Start from the season or an area like on deck and you get continuous play, start from an individual episode and no continuous play. At least I know how it works now. A post play countdown would be very nice though.

Also, Dom. I noticed an issue where if you mark an episode as unplayed that the unplayed episode badge on the top level poster for the show won’t update to show the proper unplayed count unless you actually quit the Xbox One app and restart it. I’ll try to describe the issue I saw as best I can.

I currently have Season 5 of Modern Family stored on my NAS. Episode 1 was watched and on the top level Modern Family poster and the Season 5 poster once you click on the top level Modern Family poster both show 23 episodes unwatched, which is correct. When I make eposide 1 as unwatched and then back out a level, the Season 5 poster shows 24 unwatched which is correct, but when I back out another level to where all the different series posters, the Modern Family displays 23 episodes unwatched which is wrong because it isn’t reflecting the episode 1 being marked as unwatched. To get this to show the correct info I have to back out to the Xbox dashboard and force quit the app. Once I do that and reload it then the proper show count is displayed again.

Wasn’t sure if it was worth posting a new topic for this since you have been responding to this thread.

Thanks. We have some work done in 1.2 for that - I’ll add it to the known issues list.

What am I doing wrong? I go to On deck, choose an episode of a show that I’m playing, I click play on my media remote (or I even press X on the XBOX controller), it plays it till the end, and then goes back to the On deck again. Doesn’t continous play. Any ideas?

I tried it last night and when I did that exact sequence continuous play did work. There’s no indication that continuous play is happening until you get to the end of the episode and the next episode just starts playing.
