RasPlex is a port of the standard PHT client (Plex Home Theater) and has exactly the same controls as PHT on a PC has (plus a special RasPlex menu).
While PHT uses a media player based on an XBMC 'fork' and a somewhat related skin system, it's still a different application with its own standards for command interactions.
In the media section browser there are several keyboard shortcuts and methods available to simplify navigation in a large library.
One of the most important features of modern PHT versions is the side menu opened by pressing DPad_Left when the selection is already at the leftmost entry on the screen. In the main menu the side menu gives access to preferences and quit commands (and some others), while inside the main list of a library section the side menu allows you to choose various content filters and sort modes.
In those lists there's also a similar feature if you use DPad_Right at the rightmost screen entry, which causes a temporary shift into text-list mode, exited by pressing DPad_Right again.
NB: Those side-menu features were implemented in the new v1.0.x series of PHT, so they are not present in old RasPlex versions that were based on the old v0.9.x series of PHT. That includes all previous stable RasPlex versions including v0.3.1.
Some additional features are best accessed through a USB keyboard (I have one slightly larger than a TV remote):
One such feature available in the top-level section listings is to quick-jump to media with names starting with a specified letter simply by pressing that letter together with the 'Shift' key. So for "Game of Thrones" I'd just press Shift-G...
Another useful feature is to press the 'C' key with any entry selected, to open a context menu related to that entry. This allows manipulation of the content of that entry in a few ways, including setting/clearing the 'watched' flags.
There are various other commands available too, such as 'F' to step through some of the main content filters, or 'W' to directly toggle watch flags for current entry. (Be careful though, as it sets/clears all watch flags of a selected show entry.)
