Conversion failed. A required codec could not be found or failed to install

Operating System: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
Kernel: Linux 5.8.0-53-generic
(no docker or any other containers)

Plex version: 1.23.2.4584-bdefd2026
(previous version worked fine and if I could find a previous version I’d probably roll back but plex doesn’t list old versions [please please fix this]) Plex has access to all folders in var/lib.

After the upgrade, I am getting an error for playback on Android and Chrome. Here are the error logs.

I can nslookup plex.tv fine, network is fine and I am trying to play on my own network.

1.23.1 is public. you can downgrade to it.

It’s always been advised to keep a known good copy available.

As for the DNS issue, we are working on it. Availability of volunteers to help reproduce the problem (so we can fix it) has been the problem.

Can you share anything with us about your network topology including IPv4 / IPv6 service on LAN and on WAN (what addresses do you get), how many NICs are on the host and in use, etc. (think about how you go about resolving a network DNS issue).

I am having this exact same problem. Running Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS. Started with v1.23.1.4528. Just tried v1.23.1.4571 as well and same issue.

Where can I find 1.23.1? My previous installers got wiped out.

1.23.1 is public now

Strongly recommend keeping copies in the future.

~100 MB per package file, compared to typical media files, is noise

I have downloaded and tried to manually install via sudo dpkg -i plexmediaserver_1.23.1.4571-6119e8eed_amd64.deb and my server version still is the same (Version 1.23.2.4584). Is there a special method that I need to do? (I’ve also done a full restart and still getting the same errors)

IPV4, LAN (192.xxx.xxx.xxx). Eero Network.

Router → Eero → switch → server (and NAS)

@ChuckPa is there a link to a previous version I can download?

Working on it.

Can you also join us over here? I’m trying to focus everyone to one central point. (I’m losing track of all the threads on this subject)

To all reading here,

Please make your presence known in that thread so Engineering can get a scope on this issue.
