Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error

Plex Server:

  • Windows 10 Pro x64
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
  • RAM: 24 GB
  • Mapped network drive for storage
  • Plex Media Server 1.16.3.1402

Storage:

  • Netgear ReadyNAS 2304

Player Versions:

  • Computer: 3.104.2 (is this web client version?)
  • iPad: 5.17.1

Since updating to 1.16.3.1402 I get an “Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.”

I have gotten this before but that issue was encoding 5.1 audio with AAC, I have corrected those files. Now I get this error after watching 20 minutes of a show and if I try to continue it happens within a minute. This happens when playing on my computer, iPad, and my fire tablet. I tried to optimize the show and the conversion failed too.

I then installed Plex on my NAS which is a little outdated version 1.11.3.4803 and i have no issues, but it runs so slow. I am currently running both so I can provide any data for people who will need it. First time poster so sorry if I am posting this in some wrong way and any help would be appreciated.

I am getting permission errors on my network drive since 1.16 was installed. Plex is unable to read or write to the network drive now. I wonder if this is related.
