Conversion failed. The transcoder failed to start up. With subtitles turned on

Server Version#: 1.41.4.9463

Whenever subtitles is turned on it will show the mentioned error (“Conversion failed. The transcoder failed to start up.”) But only on some devices. The windows plex app always works for me but i have a lot of users complaining about the error on the web browser and on tv’s. Me included

This has still not been fixed even after a full systems reboot.

Same issue. Subtitles work IF they are part of the container, but if they are downloaded trough the client Find more subtitles option this error appears every time.

Same issue here. If i have an external SRT i always get the error in multiple devices.
Tried versions 1.41.3 , 1.41.4 and 1.41.5, same error in all of them.

Started to have this issue with ongoing series that I was watching.

These are the errors on console:
[Req#954/Transcode] Error configuring transcoder: TPU: Failed to download sub-stream to temporary file
[Req#98a/Transcode] Denying access to transcode of key /library/metadata/166171 due to terminated session

I started with a fresh installation of Plex (with a new database) and rescanned, downloading metadata again. It took a long time, but now the issue is gone (running the latest version, 1.41.5). I’m not entirely sure what caused the problem before, and I wonder if simply rescanning all libraries or removing and refreshing the metadata could have fixed it without losing my settings and watchlist. In any case, I’m happy that it works now, so I won’t risk messing it up again.
