Convert automatically seems broken, it used to work fine, but now won’t play to any client when accessing remotely! I have to turn off Convert Automatically in settings and mess with quality settings to get anything to play! This is from multiple locations. I’ve hopefully attached logs. Thanks, Tim

Hi, thanks for the speedy reply.
Ok weird I was watching Gremlins 2 here and it was playing fine! Didn’t notice that it was transcoding, it normally direct plays at home! Yes the GPU passthrough is set up, it has always worked since I set it up on UnRaid a few years ago, there is normally an HW showing in Tautulli when transcoding? My daughter was trying to watch a film last night on her Apple TV at around 10:30 that failed to play without switching off convert automatically?

Would you recreate a specific failure such that it’s the last thing in the logs ?
Yes, I have that line in my container config and it shows high activity in the GPU dashboard so I thought it was working? I’ll get my daughter to play something and post the logs.

I’ve discovered today that I have this problem on my older FireTV Stick (Gen 2 I think) (that is in the back bedroom for when one of the kids comes home to stay, so I don’t use it often!) I fact this seems to be a problem that mostly affects the Fire TV sticks, my daughter’s Apple TV is fine! So anyway I played a 4K Bluray rip that I knew would have to transcode a few times and if I had “convert automatically” set then it wouldn’t play, just had the spinning icon! It did this whatever quality I selected! Logs attached.

It’s been 2 weeks now! As usual no answer from Plex!! Don’t know why I expected any different! Worst support from one of the most bug ridden bits of software I have to use, as annoyingly there is no alternative!!
I’m sorry for the delay but there was a holiday and end of year vacations. I tried to take some much needed time off.
In reviewing your logs, I looked for AppleTV and FireStick. I didn’t find either attempting to play.
Can you help me out?
If it helps i have had the same issue with plex web in chrome for the last couple months with the same issue regardless of the media on a shield 2019 pro.
It never goes to Auto anymore and stays at Converting Automatically
I just did one now from 11:55-11:57AM as a test and here are the logs. It’s been broken for about 3 months or so but I figured it might just come back after a couple updates but no luck. Internally it works it seems to be mainly Plex Web that is the issue in my case.
It seems to work on the mobile android and shield android app okay.
