Copy plex metadata or server from PC to NAS?

Hi all, Sorry for the double post, I think I posted this somewhere else where it didn’t belong…I’m upgrading my Plex Media Server from a PC to a new Qnap TVS-871-i7-16G. I don’t know if I have to start a new server all together or if I can copy the settings itself. I have quite a bit of stuff including home movies I’ve tediously manually entered the info in myself. Is there something I can extract from the old server settings and copy and paste to the new nas server setting so it will recognize all my old metadata? All the files will be the same. Thanks in advance, This will help me get the new one up and running way faster.

To find any post you’ve made you can click on your name and see your history.

You can copy some things (such as your media and viewstates).

Moving from Windows to Linux-based isn’t easy because pathnames are different format but, if careful, with a little patience and practice (yes, it will probably need a few attempts when you ‘import’ the Windows instance into the QNAP) it will come in by large.

There are some users who’ve been successful in transporting everything under the Plex Media Server directory.
With that process, the most important steps are to turn off Automatic Updating of libraries and Turn off 'Empty Trash" (settings - server - library)

Thank you very much! Very helpful.

Hi,

I am moving my server from MacOS to QNAP.

Looking at the subdirectories of
\Plex Media Server
I am thinking that the only two I should be copying across to my QNAP is
\media
\Metadata

Is that right?

Thanks,
James.
