Correct way to import Apple Music ratings?

Hello,

I created a new Plex library for Music and pointed it at Apple Music Library of 130,000+ tracks on my NAS. It works nicely with PlexAmp to play what I want on demand.

What is of course missing from this method are the ratings from my Apple Music.

I have placed an export of my Apple Music library as Library.xml in an accessible location and specified this file in the PMS settings, restarted the server and sees the xml file according to logs, but does not seem to be taking any action?

My Library.xml looks like this:

<key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/iTunes/iTunes%20Media/Music/The%20Ronettes/The%20Best%20of%20the%20Ronettes/1-03%20I%20Wonder.mp3</string>

While the actual path that plex sees is: * /iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/The Ronettes/The Best of the Ronettes/1-03 I Wonder.mp3

There is so much old information, I cannot find up to date Plex instructions on the correct way to bring Apple Music library into Plex along with playlists and ratings.

I understand the iTunes plugin doesn’t exist anymore, but I cannot find the equivalent functionality in PMS.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

Answering my own question:

You have to go to the Playlists library, on the left side of Plex and click on the three dots and click “Import from iTunes”.

Doing this timed out the GUI and gave an error that the service was not responding, but it worked. I am now receiving ratings and playlists in my music library on Plex.

There are some errors like this saying “Could not find path” even though the path as printed is valid and the track can be played from within Plex.

I guess this is a database responsive issue. There are other errors about waiting for seconds while the DB catches up.

Hmmmm, the first import I did had a lot of duplicate playlists, so I removed them from Apple Music and exported again - but subsequent imports to Plex do not seem to update the Plex library? Even if I tick the “Overwrite existing playlists” button - it does not…
