I was trying to switch my primary music tool from iTunes (apple music as of catalina) to plex. But unfortunately plex music won’t let me import ratings from iTunes (Windows)…
I migrated my library from mac to windows (same as plex server) and updated the directory names (music is also stored on that windows machine). Then I activated the iTunes Plugin in plex prefs and included the path to my library xml file.
Music import as is works ok, but no ratings or playlist are being imported - bummer. Even extended logging does not give any clues where to search for “a” problem.
So I guess plex is buggy, right?
Another workaround would have been to import playlists (say all 5 star ratings) to plex via e.g. soundiiz and then select all (haha, no such button) and batch assign a rating (again haha, no such feature available). But plex does not bother to offer this workaround.
So, I am stuck with apple music (the app on catalina), right, again?

I try to keep Apple Music separate and using its own app, partly because of how capable their app is, and partly because Apple Music encrypts all the songs you tell it to download. I seem to have read somewhere that Plex was designed to integrate to the normal MP3s you get from iTunes, not Apple Music.
As far as importing playlists and ratings goes, I’d test against plain iTunes songs bought from the iTunes Store only, and playlists made there containing only those MP3s. I haven’t bothered with this. When I moved my music onto Plex, I created everything from scratch to observe how that worked.
Also Plex massively upgraded their Music system recently with the 1.18 version release. It’s a long process to build up a terrific music library on Plex now, but it’s worth it. I think if you have a large set of unencrypted songs, you can get a lot out of Plex. If you’re just using Apple Music now, you’ll have to do a lot of testing to decide what works for you.
Yeah sorry if I don’t know all the potential of Plex and Apple’s new version of iTunes. I’m still on Mojave because of some old software. I encourage you to search some more for others who have been in your boat. In the past people might have made a Plugin to help Plex handle other tasks. Nowadays Plugins have been relegated to history (prob for security).
