Every time I open Plex for Windows and have to wait because there’s a pop-up and “an update is available”, I think of this topic.
It was dropped in August 2019 sadly. It used to be there so if you had it you can still install however, didn’t place it in your library it’s gone.
Yep, that one is retired. We’re talking about requesting that Plex publish the new Windows app in the Microsoft Store to replace that previous one.
Yeah, I’d second that. However, more people use the desktop app and a select few use the Windows Store.
I’m one of them having a Surface Pro 2. Meaning I have no choice but to use the store for application installations.
However, this was released on October 22, 2013 so I mean to cut losses and focus more on what people are using now makes more sense. Then developing for a dead platform as you said in your original post. The desktop app does detect new updates pretty well and you can install them takes a couple of minutes and you’re good to go.
All that said, I’d still be very happy as you to see them add this back to the Windows store.
@deactivated, would their happen to be enough traction to bring this back or is currently being worked on? Do we click the all hope is lost button? Any information would be great since it’s been almost a year now.
