Does anyone know if the Windows Store version of the Plex client is still going?
It still works okay but hasn’t seen any releases in over a year and is now behind in features, notably News and Podcasts (granted podcasts is new and still in beta but already a top feature for me).
I’m running Plex Media Player as well which work just as well and has much of the latest look and features available. Is Plex Media Player the future?
It isn’t being updated, and apparently isn’t even being supported here.
Literally doesn’t work anymore. Search for an album or a single and it’ll list everything else but what you searched for and if you find the result you’re after, you are greeted with an album with just the 1st song in it…
I find the app works just as well as it always has, admittedly, it has the odd glitch but it’s not too bad. Search works okay and offers Artist, Track and Album groupings based off the search phrase. I used it for everything on my PC until the release of PlexAmp which now deals with my music requirements.
I think it’s more a shame that the Windows Store hasn’t made more of an impact and with the death of Windows Mobile it seems to have stagnated. The Plex app was a good example of this, auto updating in the background and largely just working without any interaction from the user.
When you look at what Apple achieved with the Mac App Store. The installation & maintenance and cleanup of old apps is so much easier.
