So I’ve been busy the last month, so only the wife has been using the Plex.
Now I’m back and wanted to see some of my movies. But none of my 4k HDR files will all the sudden not play.
Transcodes from 4K HDR10 (HEVC Main 10 to → 4K (H264).
Tried with no subtitles and AAC sound to make sure sound is direct played.
TV: S95B, but it’s the same on my LG C2.
I got the logs ready. anywhere special I need to upload them?
Server Version#: 1.31.2.6810
Player Version#: 5.57.2 (platform 6.5)
Could really use some help to troubleshoot this.
Just seems so weird it goes from working just fine to not working at all.

Chuck usually only helps on Linux systems. More details on how you have your transcoding set up might be of value.
This is not my area of expertise. Just a suggestion
I’m only going to be “educated guesswork” at WIndows.
Please do turn OFF verbose logging. It hinders when trying to debug this sstuff.
(it can only retain 2 minutes of elapsed time. and it’s difficult as heck to read)
DEBUG is the best . No extra cost … ready to go.

As for the session, looks like the player refused to participate (guesswork)
Do you have a sample file (perhaps a Samsung Demo file from their website) ?
One that will DirectPlay.
If you can get one and put it in “other videos” section
then you’ll be able to confirm you have “DirectPlay 2160p HDR”. Doing so confirms your network and basic streaming to the TV works.

edit: Tried to search for samsung demo’s without any luck.
I found a few samples but they’re pretty big and have a high bit rate. This one was playing at 120 Mbps.
Not sure if that will direct play for you on a TV
So downloaded one of them with lower Mbps (51.4).
Same issue as I have with my other files.
What is the exact model number TV you have?
Maybe we can look up its specifications and find you a sample.
Looking at your logs shows PMS wanting to play;
There are subtitles (Danish?)
Looks like it starts the transcoder;
Then the TV terminates the session.

Check the settings in the Plex app on the Samsung. Make sure both Direct Play and Direct Stream are enabled.

Tried playing without subtitles as well, it still transcodes.
Under my TVs settings:
Local Quality: Original
Remote Quality: Original
Direct Play: Enabled
Direct Stream: Enabled
Maximum H.264 level: 5.1(recommended)
Deactivate Limit of Bitrate: Enabled
Seems to be any HVEC file. Just tried one not being HDR and it’s the same issue.
So when I toggle on this settings in the server “Disable video stream transcoding”.
I just get a message on the TV that there is not enough CPU power to transcode.

Do any devices you have actually play hvec files?
Because it’s both tv’s and all hvec hdr or sdr files I would suspect something on the server level rather than the tv. Possible codecs folder being corrupted?
Keep in mind…I’m taking a guess at this because you haven’t come up with a solution yet
If you delete the codecs folder on your file system and restart your server it should download a fresh set

I’ve never had to do this and suggest you wait for @FordGuy61 or another Ninja/employee to tell you exactly what to do (or not do)
I’ve seen it suggested to just delete the whole codecs folder and I’ve seen it suggested to delete everything except for the .device-id file inside the codec folder
Are you using a Rocket Lake processor? If so, have you tried enabling hardware accelerated transcoding? The server is currently trying to perform software transcoding along with software-based HDR->SDR tone mapping.
Check Settings → [Server Name] → Transcoding. How are these settings configured on your system?
They should generally be configured as shown. However, you may want to check with “Enable HDR tone mapping” unchecked to see if that makes difference. The software-based tone mapping can’t be avoided if this is enabled, as you’re using Windows on Intel.
