Please Read: Before submitting a feature Suggestion

You can raise feature suggestions so that we know what you want in the product. We love hearing from you and we are always looking for ideas to make Plex more awesome.

Here’s a quick guide to submitting feature suggestions and how voting works:

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT A FEATURE SUGGESTIONS search on our forums to see if there are any suggestions similar to your need. If so, build upon this ask by adding your thoughts. Vote on the topic if you like the idea. If not, submit a new feature suggestions. If you know of a feature suggestion that is in another category that needs to be moved here please let a Ninja, Team Member or Employee know.

Here are existing feature suggestions, sorted by most popular first

When submitting a feature request

  • Only one feature per topic
  • Provide a relevant subject to your post
  • Explain your request in detail. Add as much context as you can so that we can understand your request well
  • If you think of new details or changes to your original idea edit the first post and let folks know you edited it
  • Let us know how you manage the situation currently and if you have tried any workarounds
  • Add screenshots, pictures, workflows and any other relevant information you have to help us understand the request better.
  • If appropriate, tag the request like any post. If it relates only to iOS then give it that tag.

Voting

Feature request voting provides us with a guide to help plan and prioritize development. As there are a variety of factors that go into this, we can’t guarantee a feature request will get implemented based on votes and posts alone.

The most voted feature suggestions don’t automatically “win” or guarantee they will be implemented. If something is just never going to happen (like ISO support) we will let you know. There are other considerations outside of these forum feature requests that are taken into account.

All users are given at least 5 votes. Users can only vote on any individual request once. To remove your vote hit the vote button again and then click on “Remove Vote” to confirm. If we close/archive a thread because it has been implemented or will not ever be implemented, users will get their votes back to vote on something else.

Timelines

We don’t share timelines or our roadmap. But let this not discourage you from sharing feedback with us. Every piece of information we get is helpful when we get together to discuss what we want to build next or how we should improve existing features and functionality.

This feature request has a lot of upvotes/comments. Why isn’t Plex building it?

We need to make sure that our limited resources are focused on building features that you will love while also staying true to our product vision and goals. Some features and enhancement requests might look very simple, but these might not be the best solutions considering the longer term plan for the product. Sometimes things with less votes happen due to serendipitous events.

Let this not discourage you from posting your feedback on the forum. We assure you that we review every request and will follow up if we have any questions.

Requesting integration of content/service providers, and other potential partner systems

We do not have any control if a content provider wants to, has a compatible API or if they are allowed based on their contracts with content creators to resell the streaming rights to said content.

While in the past we left these content provider feature suggestion topics open as a reminder if one did get back to us, it is clear that they generally just become toxic with false beliefs and accusations about what we can or cannot do.

Any suggestions for integration of a content provider will be closed. If you wish for a content provider to be be a partner and integrate with us you should contact that provider and suggest they contact us. If they are able to both legally and technically have their service integrate into our product we would happy to explore how to potentially integrate their service.

Thanks
