couldn’t create playback session for thus item is always the response on ios when I attempt live viewing

Does live tv work on IOS at all for anyone?

How can I get some response to this issue?

Perhaps by posting more information regarding your setup, what steps you are taking to try to resolve the issue on your own, possibly logs you have reviewed to see what the issue might be, and not posting multiple messages repeatedly within a few minutes of each other that don’t provide much information for anyone to even offer any suggestions.

Yes Live TV works for some people, doesn’t for others, all depends on your server configuration, iOS device type, version of iOS you are running on the device, etc. If you have a low powered server that is not capable of transcoding streams it probably won’t work very well for you. But to provide any assistance other users might need more information posted when you are posting an issue. Sorry but “couldn’t create playback session for thus item is always the response on ios when I attempt live viewing” tells no one anything other than you are apparently having an issue. Are we supposed to guess what your configuration might be? What you have already tried? The more information you can provide the better someone might be able to respond.

In the past 40 years great progress has been made with software. We now have the benefit of software that can analyze the environment it is running in, can report incompatible versions of supporting modules and, in most cases can suggest configuration or version changes that will fix problems. Plex is a consumer product that is used by non-technical people who know nothing of server configurations and opsys versions. Plex fails completely and utterly when it reports “couldn’t create playback session for this item” or “recording failed” and provides no further information or recourse other than slogging through ( for a non-technical person) the Plex forums.

There must be developers at Plex who decided that the useless responses cited above were appropriate. How can I get them to suggest a course of action to alleviate problems like this?
