CPU Usage trancoding

Hi all,

I have a Synology DS1815+, I know this server is not really designed for transcode cause of the CPU.
But when I see my setup can not well manage of simple stream to web app http://synology.local:32400/web/index.html is frustrating me.

I currently try to show this movie, with these file specification :

Why I can not choose to do not transcode and simply send the file as he’s orignial format '? (like native file)
See the monitor of activity of my Synology, cpu will die ..

In a other hand it’s my setting :

Did you have a solution ? Use another client for plex ? Directly read file from my nas but can not use the super interface of plex?
Buy a special micro pc / module for transcoding and keep my nas only for storage movies ?
Buy Sdd cache for my nas ? (the bottle neck seems on the cpu, it’s seems stupid)

Thank for you attention,

Best regards,

The film is HEVC encoded. Does your player support HEVC? If it does not, your little Synology will attempt to transcode to H.264.
HEVC is the most complex codec to decode. You will never be able to real-time transcode it on a Synology. You need an Intel Core CPU with the -7xxx class GPU.

@ChuckPA I have used the web player of plex. Have you best alternativ ?

@trumpy81 yeah I will transcode this video and find a software for auto recode all my movies stuff on synology directly.

You may have used the Web player for Plex. This is normal. At this time, there is no support in the Plex/Web browser app to play HEVC
Only now is there the emergence of browser plug-ins to play HEVC. There is still a copyright issue to be resolved
