Crackle plugin

While recently installing a new backup program, I ran into an error that I was told may have something to do with the PLEX plugin CRACKLE. Can someone tell me what this is for and what would be the result if I deleted it? I do no gaming…Win 10

C:\Users\weybr\Plex Media Server.09.20.20\Plug-ins\Services.bundle\Contents\Service Sets\com.plexapp.plugins.crackle

Server Version#: 4.47.3
Player Version#: na

Content plug-ins are dead anyway… so simply delete it (preferably with your PMS stopped).

Thanks, tom80H, for your reply. Sorry, but as a non-techie, I must ask “What is PMS and how do I stop it?”

PMS = Plex Media Server.
Right click on the Plex taskbar icon and select Quit.

Thanks, Dan_Bev, done!

here is some background info on plex server, what it does, and why you might use it

you should be able to normally uninstall plex via windows control panel/applications/uninstaller

if for some reason that is unavailable or fails, you can uninstall manually

Thanks for your comments, TeknoJunky.

I’m having a problem with another program install and I have been told that the PMS plug-in CRACKLE is a potential problem. They suggest I delete it. Since your comment about “content plug-ins are dead anyway…” should I delete the entire CONTENTS > Service Sets folder?

That sounds unlikely… the plug-in is basically a bunch of scripts that are used by Plex. They don’t interfere with other programs/applications. Therefore that statement sounds suspicious/fishy (to me) – in particular if this is supposed to be a backup program

Generally I would keep the Services.bundle folder untouched. However from what I’ve been reading Plex will create whatever it requires for its inner workings on startup if it’s been deleted.

Didn’t you already delete the Crackle plug-in folder?

Good advice. Sounds more logical than the other “iffy” source. Thanks, tom80H.

No, as it is in a large folder with many other plugins. But, I think tom80H is on target with his comment (above). Thanks, Dan_Bev.
