Posting my comment here as this is still a problem in 2.6.3 and dunno why other discussion was marked answered when there wasn’t. Anywho:
I can load plex client and start something, but if I stop video, crash; or even say view a tv show then back up and view something else even without playing any video just viewing the metadata boom crash.
Link to other thread same issues with logs: http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/217498/crash-ce-34878-0
Also, how is the ps4 media remote not coded for? Definitely the main and really only remote people use so uh why not enable more of it’s useful buttons?
Just moved to ps4 and sucks the plex client and remote (though Xbox 360 is the same way) aren’t more stable and usable really bums me out. Beautiful plex collection and have to reload client if I even just view more than one item in a session. Head scratcher.
Please, please, please try to bring client stability up.
Nope, still searched then opened bleach, opened a season, then episode detail. metadata didn’t fully load (didn’t get screen cap or background) waited couple min and as soon as I hit circle to back up, bam same error.
Feels to me to be related to the clients loading of metadata and seems to happen most often with shows with many episodes.
Actually worse then before usually can play one episode before this happened, not now.
Yes, it had me reconnect the app and version check stated 2.6.5
Tried again and it loaded the specific episodes data, but when I hit circle to go back this time episode list was odd lost all screen caps and it crashed couple seconds later. Same code
Oh also searching and opening things from search really seems to cause this error way more often than if I get something on the front page and view it from there I get the error code probably about half or 2/3rd less than if I used search (though the search itself seems faster than 2.6.3 between each letter after 2 that was nice).
Also, of note, if I use the play button on the remote on say an episode rather than loading the detail page for it I’m about half again as likely to see the crash and I can sometimes get several episodes in before it finally crashes and besides search seeming to make the error more likely is where my educated guess about metadata loading being at least a good portion of the issue.
I think the point is 2.6.5 isn’t the major platform update. The real update is supposed to be next week.
I was just passing along info on the current state of the player. I report on what’s going on currently not what I hope may or may not happen with the next version.
I will say it appears to be much better I have not had the crash directly. I have noticed some other interesting things like now in 2.6.6 the scrubber bar kinda resets some times. Like if I hit the right arrow 3 times for 1.5 min skip I see the time on the scrubber hit 1:30 and then as it begins to buffer the timer drops back to usually like 30 secs as almost if it did not recognize the other 2 extra taps of the button, but it did since the scrubber initially moved to 1:30 before dropping back. This is really nothing big I am glad I am not seeing the full on crash at the moment, but I will do some testing [I noticed it most after searching and selecting a show with many episodes for instance]. I will say the search issue where it will randomly drop to the reconnect error screen still happens, but now it usually auto recovers without my interaction within a few seconds which is also nice to see.
Still wondering why most buttons on the PS4 official universal remote do not work as they would be handy to have but that is more a polish issue not a problem. Same thing oddly with my bluetooth keyboard. It runs beautifully in chat and on the home PS4 hub screen (whatever you want to call the initial screen after selecting PS4 user]. As soon as I open Plex to do a search using my spiffy keyboard I come to find Plex is not set to allow any input at all from a keyboard?! Again this is more an annoyance when trying to do searches and not soo much a technical issue. Just mentioning things from a user perspective I would have thought would have basically worked that do not.
Overall it is nice to see more stability and other than the search reconnect bug and the odd scrubber behavior I have not seen any other flaws per se and am enjoying not having to constantly restart the PS4 client.
