I’ve been having the same problem since updating the server, I’ve found something that has worked for me both on an android phone and google TV with Chromecast.
Log out of the device you are having problems with.
Re-ran the server as it had crashed when opening up the apps.
I then when in to Authorised Devices, removed the devices I was having problems with.

then sign back into the apps, I have been able to open and close the app without it crashing so far and play videos and music without any problem.
If the app crashes on the second time of trying to open it close and re run the server and try opening the app agin, I also turned off auto sign in in the apps setting too don’t know it that helped as well.
Hope this works for everyone else as it has worked for me
