Crashes and Latency using LTE/5G (iphone 12 client & raspberryPi server)

Server Version#: 1.40.5.8897 (running on a Raspberry Pi v3b)
Player Version#: 8.38.3 (currently on iphone 12 mini)

I only use plex to play my music.

I’ve been having this problem intermittently for about a year now and it’s becoming more frequent of an issue.

  1. iphone app crashing when attempting to play a song
  2. app takes very long to play a track (60s +), or crashes. Or, if I select another track elsewhere in the meantime, it will sometimes start playing the 1st track it hung on while displaying the 2nd track (album art, track time, etc…)… when this happens the “next” button will play the next song that was after the 1st track selected and does not play the track actually selected. usually a crash occurs shortly after (Or I close the ap)
  3. I swear certain albums are more likely to cause it from my recent list, but it’s also likely that I’m selecting them more frequently.(I’ve removed and reuploaded albums I thought were suspect with no impact)
  4. All of this is possibly tied to being on local home wifi VS phone network (even with full LTE or 5G UWB).
  5. Once playback is ongoing, playback continues uninterrupted… unless I click next or choose a different track. this can re-trigger the problem.

I’ve noticed crashes and the stalled/long play time as I leave my house and my wifi drops from my phone as I’m listening.

I never see the plex server network load gp past 2Mbps when playback is initiated, kind of expected for a simple mp3.
CPU spikes momentarily but nothing significant.

Anyone have any suggestions how to benchmark and triage the root cause?
I’ve been switching to Pandora quite a lot lately since this is becoming such a nusance

Where should I send debug logs? I saved off the file, but it’s 9mb and the max upload of this forum is 8mb……
