Create new Plex Media Server executable file?

Hi all,

I’ve been trying to update my Plex Media Server to the DVR version but every time I tried it wasn’t showing as the new updated version. It was showing the 1.2.2… version as opposed to the 1.2.0… version that the DVR version is.

At any rate, I went into the files portion of the Plex Media Server and deleted the Plex Media Server .exe because it showed the 1.2.2… version and I thought updating it would then fix my issues and reinstall the executable file.

It didn’t work.

And now I can’t start Plex at all and have no idea if it’s possible to create a new executable file? Or do I have to start everything from scratch again? I have a fairly extensive library…

I hope this all made sense.

Many thanks in advance!

Install and Uninstall does not affect library setup

Thanks, but this isn’t really a DVR specific question. And I’m not sure you understand what my problem is. I deleted the executable application file and now can’t open the program at all. Trying to reinstall the server doesn’t add the executable application button. It appears to be gone. I’m wondering if it can be replaced somehow without creating my server again from scratch.

Just do the install manually by downloading it from the web page in the link and running it

Have you tried it ? Is it failing to do the install ? There would be log files if it fails

Deleting parts of programs is likely to cause you problems, as you’ve found. Stick with running the uninstaller to remove it and official installer to install it.

If you simply deleted the executable you may find it still in the Recycle Bin and can restore it from there. If that doesn’t work then you’ll need to try uninstalling and then running the installer.
