Server Version#: 1.21.1.3830 (RPM distro on Linux)
I upgraded the HD’s in my Plex server a couple of days to increase space. As a result everything on drives 1 and 2 now fit on drive 1 and drive 2 is empty.
I then moved everything from drive 3 to drive 2 and updated the Libraries accordingly to point to the folders on drive 2 and removed the references to the folders on drive 3.
I did
rsync -vaPHSx /source /dest
This copied everything, verified it all, and set ownership and permissions when it was done. After the sync, I re-ran the command a few more times to ensure there was no straggling data and that all permissions would get set correctly.
Prior to the upgrades, I had created a few recordings for this weekend. The server has been rebooted multiple times since all settings changes were completed and all data copied. The recordings triggered and ran, and they completed and stored the corresponding files in the correct (new) directory locations.
If I look at the “DVR Schedule” tab of the “Live TV & DVR” section, the recordings show with the yellow warning triangle symbol. The error I see when hovering is “The destination library or location did not exist.” The library name never changed - all I did was add the new folder and delete the old folder via the Edit function for the library.
If I open that media folder in Plex, the recordings are there. Thoughts?
It almost seems like the recording is hard referencing the destination folder that was available when it was created. In the case of a library with multiple folders where you can choose which specific one you want, I could see this being what would happen. But why is it doing this for recordings that aren’t starting until a day after a change was made for the library? It still has only one destination folder as was the case when the recording was created…
This seems like it could be a giant gap that could cause recordings to either fail or for files to end up in unwanted places… Most of my recordings are for serial programs and might remain for YEARS without any edits. We should probably be getting a warning of some sort when destination folders get changed…
