Create script to set preferred audio track for videos?

Hello All,

There has been many discussions in the plex forums about the inability of Plex to choose the best audio stream for your devices.

E.g. Automatically Set Preferred/Default Audio For Videos (audio format/codec) - #20 by masonvanmeurs7_gmail_com

So far, there doesn’t seem to be much traction from Plex directly around resolving this issue.

95%+ of my videos have two audio tracks. 1st is stereo and the 2nd is some 5.1 encoding methodology. All of the equipment I watch videos on is directly capable of handling 5.1 audio.

In other messages, I see people mentioning using ‘Plex SQLite’ to directly update the database for various values. So, I was wondering if it is be fairly easy to write a script (or SQL command) that could select all of my movies and set the selected audio track to one containing /5.1/ or select the second track.

I poked around a little bit with Plex SQLite, but I just wasn’t sure which table would contain this information and the risk of me screwing it up without some guidance outweighed the benefit. So, I was hoping someone might know what table would hold this information and could point me in the right direction.

Thoughts?
