Create thumbnails for when FF/REW on Roku

Automatically done by PMS
This is probably already planned, especially since there is a way to do this currently. But I would like this to be built Into the plex media server automatically, so I can see where to stop when I am fast forwarding or rewinding. Thank you! The hack seems complicated, and I really hate messing with terminal...

Same here, I’d love for Trick FF/REW on the Roku, it really helps to have visual thumbnails. Voted up

Bump. Please vote using the little green “+” in the original post! Thanks.

By the way, this request does not need to be for just a Roku. In any client, if you are navigating while there is a transcode in session, it is impossible to tell where you are navigating until you start playing back the contents. These thumbnails could be used while AirPlaying to an Apple TV, using the Roku, android, IOS, etc. This seems like a no-brainer feature to vote in

Far as I understand, there is a standard format for these, and you can cobble together a setup that does this using another app to serve the thumbnails

Jack, your some what correct... In order for this to work you need to run another bif server, and a modified version of plex channel made by another user. What these guys want is these items to be in plexs' nature not having to modify anything which i completely agree with. Im sure this will happen at sometime shortly. +1

What I meant to comment on was that since there is a common and accepted standard protocol, that it’s something we could actually conceive of having in plex (especially since incorporating it in to xbmc would make sense)

I just picked up a Roku and would love to see this built into Plex. I’m running the bifserver now and it works but isn’t at all elegant.
