Create unique library from two different servers

This might be an option. Both NAS must be on the same LAN. SMB & NFS generally do not play nice over WAN connections.

You should be able to mount directories from one NAS on the other using NFS or SMB. Then add the mounted directory to the desired library. All the media will appear in one library.

Example:

  • Running PMS on the Synology. You have an existing TV library, with files in /volume1/media/tv.
  • Share the desired directory on the QNAP via NFS & mount it on the Synology at /volume1/qnap/media/tv.
  • Edit the TV Show library on the Synology based PMS, adding the new library location.
  • PMS Synology scans the new location and adds the media to the library.

See thread below. It shows mounting a remote directory on a Synology. There should be a similar procedure for QNAP.
