I have plex media server on one smaller nas and data files on two other nas. I would like to access the data files on the other nas to build library. I am sure this is simple, but I am a little lost. Thanks.
You would need to mount the folders from the other NAS’s to the one that has the server running so the server can see those files.
if they are all synology Mount Remote Folders | File Station - Synology Knowledge Center
then assuming permissions are set correctly the mounted folders should be able to be navigated to in mounted folder the libraries set up where you can add the folders like normal
To add to Bigwheel,
On the secondary NAS containing media, export those shared folders to allow EVERYONE permission (read-only is recommended)
I have created the remote folder. File station shows the folder has the data in it. When I go to scan folder, it says it is empty. The address of the media folder looks correct. I have tried different links, same message. Thanks.
On Synology,
- Before mounting, you must grant SystemInternalUser
PlexMediaServeraccess to the shared folder – and all subfolders & files (important) - After mounting, as you browse to add the folder(s), if done right, if all permissions are correct (PlexMediaServer and everyone) then it will populate.
