Running Plex Server on QNAP at two remote locations

Server Version#: Latest
Player Version#: Latest

Any help would be appreciated.

We have Plex Media Server running on two QNAP at two remote locations. How do we get all of the media to show up in one instance of a Plex Player?

You dont, they are two different servers and content is viewable per server.

Dirty solution is to mount the 2nd NAS as a remote drive
But that maybe sucks, if your talking about a home solution with slow uploadspeeds

I wanted to solve that for me too, so the smaller files with lower resolution would be on my older low performance NAS. But there is no other way than remote mount or switch between servers…

Gotcha. Thanks for the info. Streaming HD movies across the country from a Plex Server isn’t idea.. The thought was to DL the HD movies to the plex server that local when we are there to avoiding streaming across the internet. When you login to the Plex client, are you able to see both Plex Servers?

Of course
The owner of the second server must add your Plex account/Plex email as a “Shared User.”
→ In Plex: Settings → Users & Sharing/Plex Home → Share Libraries

The app will automatically list both servers,. You can switch between servers (usually in the top left or top right menu)

Gotcha. I’m the owner of both servers, so shouldn’t the library’s on both servers show up one I log into a client?

Correct both will show up if they are claimed, depending on the player client how to switch servers is slightly different.

Both servers will be accessible in the left side bar of the web app.
Scroll the side bar to the very bottom, then switch it into the MORE… mode.
From there, you can ‘pin’/favorite the libraries of both servers to the side bar, so they are easily selected.
