So my question is this. I have 3000 audio files, short files and I want to be able to add them to my plex so I can listen to them. The problem is it creates one album and all 3000 files are listed in that album. Is there a way I can break those up into separate albums to make it easier to navigate and listen?
You must invest some work and decide how to organize your tracks.
Decide whether you want them to appear under the same Album Artist or want to distribute them among several artists.
Then as a further level, decide how many albums should exist underneath a particular artist and how to distribute the tracks among those albums.
Once you have decided this, you change the organization of your files into folders and subfolders.
You may also have to rename the track files in some cases
and - most importantly - set the metadata of these tracks accordingly.
Plex needs this folder structure:
/MUSIC
/ AlbumArtist
/ Album
1 - track artist - track title.mp3
2 - track artist - track title.mp3
3 - track artist - track title.mp3
...
Once you have sorted your tracks into these folder and subfolders, you change their embedded meta data to reflect the AlbumArtist and the Album title accordingly.
Here is an example which shows you both the folder structure, the file names and the embedded metadata.
Perfect I knew there was a way, I just wasn’t quite sure. I have 3000 episodes of Paul Harvey “The Rest of The Story” and its hard to view them all in one album. Much appreciated.
