Trying to get my plex to give me 5.1 output. The setup is OK as the tests work great with all 6 speakers, however plex will only come through 4, missing the rear.
It appears it works elsewhere as CL upscale to 5.1 effects but I’m struggling on both win7 / win 10, servers, client, web…
You should pick a single client and troubleshoot that one specifically. I’d suggest Plex Media Player, or OpenPHT.
Are you using analogue out to the speakers using 3 pairs of RCA cables, or a digital output from the card into a receiver?
Did you configure Windows itself correctly?
This is the basis for successful surround sound.
Hint: all modern 5.1 mixes use the 5.1 (side) speaker configuration. Never the 5.1 (rear).
And then of course the Plex web app doesn’t support most surround formats.
You’ll need to use PMP, OpenPHT or maybe even the MS app store Plex app.
