Cannot seem to get plex HTPC to make 5.1 audio to stereo

Works fine in PMP but not in Plex HTPC, some reason all my 5.1 audio videos are playing as 5.1 and not stereo.

I have checked settings but nothing there, anyone know why this is happening?

Have you checked the loudspeaker configuration in Windows? It must be set to stereo as well.

My speaker config is done via a Asus driver which does say it is in stereo format, not sure about windows cannot find the setting

Look for “Sound Control Panel”

In Plex HTPC, make sure to select this particular sound device and set the channel number to “2.0”.

Ah yeah forcing the device in Plex HTPC worked thanks! It seems to be something with auto detection

Might be worth checking though since if it works on PMP then maybe something is missing and others will get caught by it?
