Crossfade on Music Librarys

Hello

I use Plex a lot and have a lifetime subscription. I use it daily on my Laptop and Xbox Ones. I have it cranked up in the lounge when I’m doing weights and I would really love to have crossfade, it is generally the one thing that will make or break a music app for me lol except in this instance I love plex too much for all of the rest of my media needs.

Please help me get this feature implemented

I thought there were popular requests for this, but I only found a couple, they’re just questions, and they don’t have more than a vote or two. You have my vote, although gapless playback would be more useful in my case.

Before a moderator closes this as a duplicate request, they should be aware that crossfade and gapless playback are not the same thing.

Crossfade involves the first track fading out while the next track fades in. The tracks may overlap during fade out/in. Commonly used by DJs.

Gapless playback allows consecutive tracks to play with no overlap, no fade out/in, and no gap separating them. This is commonly needed for classical music, concept albums, and audiobooks.

Seems to me that if cross fade and gapless playback were an option, it could be customizable so you could turn the cross fade into a gapless setting. If you set it to fade out the last two seconds and fade in for one or two seconds you will achieve your cross fade or set it to gapless. I think this should be one fix, customizable be the user and it would fix both requests with one solution, make sense?

I am all for this option, whether it is cross fade or gapless or customizable for both. I think it will be addressed one day, we just need to keep talking about it and vote “thumbs up” in the original post.

I am also hoping for a DJ plug-in with a synthesized voice that would announce what tracks were played every 4 or 5 songs, and then maybe give away some concert tickets from time to time.

Clicked ‘like’ on this one, I’m surprised Plex doesn’t have it.

What a great Idea, I control my music more from my plex ios app so a announcement like a DJ “absolutely awesome”. Onkyo have a ios app for Network Receivers it announces with just Artist and song text with artwork.

So when can we have this Plex ?

The more I think about the DJ idea, the more I think it could be a thing. I’d use it!

As this is quite different from the original topic of this thread, it should be in a thread of its own.

i too am in agreement with gapless/cross-fading :)…
would also like some form of option, to ALWAYS display/play the video if there is one available, and to show lyrics(timed if available ) as well if no video to display …

This really works best if we keep to one topic in a thread. There are other threads for both the ‘play video’ and lyrics requests.

Gapless could be achieved by setting the crossfade to 0?
