Custom background / folder slideshow

I would like to have possibility of defining custom backgrounds in PMS / Web.



Automatic slideshow which is currently used is not suitable for every situation:


  1. Fanart quality is below average if you don’t invest time in manual checking and downloading for every movie
  2. Younger kids do not find they way around easily as they can’t read and thus rely on icons or backgrounds



    Choosing custom icons and backgrounds are available only in cocoa manager, while I wasn’t able to find how to define folder with custom set of images (much like for OS X wallpaper slideshows).

Even an option to disable background rotation and just use a single image everywhere (some space or even just a solid color bg) would be nice.

I'll piggyback my own feature request on this topic, as they are quite similar.

I also want control over background art.

I'd settle for actually being able to select which sections are allowed to show background art, but wouldn't mind even more control.


In my case I would only like to show background art from movies and series, not pictures or mobile uploads. As I dump _all_ pictures in my library, it also includes work related pictures. Picture after picture of racks and network equipment gets pretty dull really fast.
