I would like to save custom filters and then add them to the home screen.
I do the same search every day: “Unplayed TV shows by last episode date added”. It would be great to add this as a row on the home screen. “On deck” and “Continue watching” don’t have the new stuff. “Recently aired TV” and “Recently added TV” display shows I have already watched.
There’s lots of other searches that would work as well. This little change would make Plex super customizable.
It won’t help in getting these shows on you home screen, but you can turn that search you do every day into a smart playlist and then pin your Playlists entry on the Side Panel near the top to make it easily accessible.
To create the smart playlist just go ahead and apply your custom filters as you are now. Once the list is created, select the “Add to Playlist” icon near the top-right (four stacked, horizontal bars with a +):
When the Create Playlist dialog pops up, just give it a meaningful name and click Create. Because of the way it was created, this playlist will now be dynamically updated when accessed, always showing the content which currently matches the filter.
And if you’d like for your request to have a “Vote” button attached to it so folks can voice their support, you may want to change that “Plex Features” tag to “Feature Suggestions.”
Also being able to add the custom filter to the library “Recommended” Section would be nice. It would be nice to be able to set defaults categories from the server side so that the custom filters would show up on the library “Recommended” section when you share your library with new users.
A request for the same feature exists already, and it has more votes.
Therefore this one is closed, to prevent spreading the votes across several threads, even though they vote for the same (or at least very similar thing).
Votes are given back to the users who voted on this request. Please think of re-voting in the other thread if you still want it.
Rules for the Feature Suggestions forum section:
Please search before creating a new suggestion thread.
