For the time being i have made do with the startup playlist option found in the advanced tabs of the plea settings, however most of the time plex is running all day and so when people are round they do not get to see the trailer play because plex is already up and running.
Hopefully others feel this is a half decent idea and we can get it built into this already awesome program.

The necromancy in this thread is pretty strong... This can already be done (with a single intro per movie) by adding the intro to the folder containing the movie and naming it as follows:
The Jungle Book (1967) - pt 1.mkv [This is your custom trailer]
The Jungle Book (1967) - pt 2.mkv [This is the actual film]
Plex will automatically combine the video 'parts' and should play them back to back seamlessly.
You can use all of the following when naming: "cd#", "disc#", "disk#", "dvd#", "part#" or "pt#"

This is way too much work when you have 500+ movies and if your intro is HD 1080p and a few gigs in size you will need another terabyte of hard drive space to do it! This solution also doesn't allow for multiple or random intros and I have also noted that resume is buggy when files are set like this. I have experimented with this solution and it is not good.

+1 for cinema mode like the XBMC plugin.
I am going to have to vote for this as well. Cinema Experience is amazing on XBMC. A simple addon to play a single video from a folder before the actual movie is all that is needed.

Looks like this request has been idle for a while. I would like to breath some new life into it and see if the Plex Gods can work it into a release.
I'm building my home theater, and Plex has been in my home for quite some time. I want that 'full theater experience' when guests come over to watch a movie.
An awesome movie like intro with the pop corn popping and the roller coaster ride would be awesome!
I can create the videos...but there's no way I can duplicate it into every movie folder since I have about 3,000 movies and 200 TV episodes.

this is still very limited. most requester are wanting something similar to the following
Custom Video (most likey an personalize intro )
Trailers Intro video (coming soon intro video)
Trailers (either from local videos or upcoming titles and by genre would be nice also)
Feature presentation video
Countdown video
Actually Movie

Note: In order to have the "pre-roll" video played, users will need to have the Cinema Trailers feature enabled in their Plex App.

i’ll clarify. i’m not looking to force trailers, i’m trying to force a 5 second clip i have before every film. i share my media with a good amount of people and it would be nice to just put a little branding to the films is all.

I signed in only to add my vote here - coolest feature since movie poster thumbnails 
to clarify - I’d like to see a random video out of a HDD folder I can maintain.
