There’s already quite a number of existing suggestions that address what you describe. I suggest you vote/comment in those threads to avoid distracting/dispersing votes.
I don’t know how popular this req will be but music section is lacking browsing “By Composer”. This is, IMO, a necessity for classical music.
Hey! Just installed Plex yesterday and I love it already! As a software engineer myself, I can tell that an incredible amount of nuanced work has gone into making Plex an amazing product. Keep it up!
So right now my number one feature request is to support custom columns. That is, not just custom tags, which is just the enabling of arbitrary values to be associated with existing attributes/columns (like Album Collection), but custom columns like Composer, Composer Birth Year, Composer Death Yea…
To be fair all of those scenarios also exist with non-classical music - tribute albums with various artists, covers albums by one artist, albums where guest artists perform with the main songwriter, etc.
I mean, try filtering for all songs written by Burt Bacharach or Irving Berlin in your collection, for example - currently can’t be done in Plex. Or all songs produced/remixed by a certain producer.
Classical music does have some unique characteristics in things like the Work/Movement naming …
I’d previously suggested adding an Associated Artists section for related but dissimilar bands. I’ve been lumping those in with Similar but I don’t like doing that. Then I thought, why not add Members so we can jump between bands. It would work just like Cast in Movies. Anyway, a picture is worth a thousand words, so here:

I think that it would greatly enhance the extras capability if you could add a URL as an extra. Not as a source of extra material; but as the extra material itself. This extra type is suitable for any of the media types supported: Movies, music, TV shows, what have you. I think it would be best if the links could be categorized. Some possible categories could be:
Official Album Page (or Artist Page, or Movie page, etc.). Many media products have a web page dedicated to them from the owner…
